General information about artifacts

Basics

  • A character has 5 slots in which they can equip an artifact. So a character can equip up to 5 artifacts.
  • Each of the 5 slots limits the type of artifact that it can equip. Correspondingly, there are 5 artifact types.
  • Each artifact is of a given type.
  • An artifact has stats that provide bonuses to the character equipping it. The artifact type determines the kind of stats that the artifact can have. See section Stats below for more details.
  • Each artifact has a quality, ranging from 1-5 stars. The higher the artifact quality the better the stats it has.
  • Each artifact has a level, ranging from 1-20. The maximum level is determined by the artifact quality. See section Leveling below for more details.
  • Each artifact belongs to an Artifact Set. When a character equips 2 or 4 pieces of the same set they gain additional 2-piece or 4-piece bonuses that are specific to the artifact set.

Stats

  • Each artifact has a main stat that depends on the artifact type. Flower and Plume artifacts always have flat HP and ATK, respectively. The main stat of Sands, Goblet and Circlet artifacts is not fixed.
  • Artifacts have substats. The maximum is 4 substats. If present a substat is always different from the main stat. All artifact types can have the same substats:
    • HP and HP%
    • ATK and ATK%
    • DEF and DEF%
    • Elemental Mastery
    • Energy Recharge
    • CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG
  • An artifact gains 1 substat for every 4 levels. Once all 4 substats are present, the value of a random existing substat is increased every 4 levels.
  • The amount that the main stat gains upon leveling is fixed.
  • The amount that a substat gains upon leveling is random within a certain range.

Leveling

  • Artifacts are leveled by investing Artifact EXP and paying Mora. 1 Artifact EXP costs 1 Mora.
  • Artifact EXP is available from artifact enhancement materials (aka Sanctifying Oils) or from consuming other artifacts.
  • Consuming an artifact that is already leveled up recovers 80% of the Artifact EXP that was used for leveling. The Mora that was paid for leveling up does not need to be paid again, only the base Mora cost for the artifact consumption is due.
  • The cost of leveling an artifact increases with the level the artifact already has.
  • The amount of Artifact EXP required to level from 16 to 20 is roughly the same as the amount required to level from 0 to 16. So only the absolute best-of-the-best artifacts should be leveled beyond 16.

2 star 8 840
